First pharmacist of Dhakuakhana Robin Baruah dies of COVID-19

LAKHIMPUR: The first pharmacist of Dhakuakhana, Robin Baruah, who was also a popular social activist, breathed his last at 9:36 pm on Wednesday night due to COVID-19 at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh. He was 82. He was detected COVID-19 positive on August 4 after he was suffering from fever. Then he was admitted in the isolation ward of the North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital. Later, he was referred to AMCH for advanced treatment. Baruah had been suffering from old-age ailments as well as neurological problem for the last two years.

Robin Baruah achieved his graduation in Ayurveda from Government Ayurvedic College in Guwahati in 1965. Then he came back to Dhakuakhana and started a pharmacy. His last rite was performed at Dhakuakhana public cremation ground on Thursday as per COVID-19 protocol by the Dhakuakhana subdivisional administration. He was the younger brother of former minister 'Singhapurus' Dulal Baruah. His demise was condoled by Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley and many individuals and organizations of Lakhimpur district.
