Fish, meat and poultry items to be sold twice a week across Dima Hasao

Haflong: As part of the COVID-19 precautionary measures, the Dima Hasao district administration has allowed door-to-door sale of fish, meat and poultry products in Dima Hasao, twice a week after a discussion with the departments concerned in the DC’s office.

The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department is to prepare a system for sales and purchase of fodder and feed in the district and maintain a record of passes given to both government vehicles and private vehicles for the purchase of fodder and feed from another district. However, there will be limitations that only one vehicle is allowed per day with mandatory vehicle details to be mentioned in the pass or permission along with the name of the helper and driver. The retail outlet or shops for sale of fodder and feed will open only twice a week.

The District Fishery Development office is to prepare a system for sale and purchase of fish in the district and maintain a detailed record of passes given to both government vehicles and private vehicles for purchase of fish from other districts and share the records with the district administration. The rest of the conditions remain same with that of meat sellers

For sale of meat or fish in the district, selected vendors will be issued passes/ permits for house-to-house sales, area wise and only twice in a week while strictly maintaining social distancing during sales. Proper hygiene is to be maintained at all time while selling.

Sale of meat or fish in shops has not been permitted yet. However, price hike of 20 per cent above the government-approved rate is permissible. Stressing on strictly maintaining of social distancing during sales, the district administration has also ordered that in case of any violation of the given guidelines, one will attract penalties as per provisions of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and cancellation of permission.
