Five Cattle-laden Trucks Seized by Kokrajhar Police

Gossaigaon: Kokrajhar police seized 5 cattle-laden trucks at Gurufella and Simultapu outpost of Kokrajhar district. A total of 80 cows were seized from the trucks at two different operations on Thursday night. Sources stated that the vehicles were coming from the Panjipara Bihar-Bengal border moving towards Shillong and in regular checking, the vehicles were seized by the police. M/S Pioneer livestock organization have been trading cattle to Meghalaya.

While speaking to the detained drivers and other vehicle staffs they stated that one Mustafa Ansari has been supplying them cattle from Panjipara, Bihar-Bengal border and Hazrat Ali of Dhubri district was entrusted with the responsibility of making the cattle reach the destination. Police sources revealed that no original papers of cattle were present in the vehicles during the checking and accordingly the vehicles were siezed. Eleven persons(eight at Gurufella and three at Simultapu outpost) have also been detained in the case; a case has been registered at each outposts and accordingly an enquiry is on to nab the original culprits.

It is also to be noted that trading of cattles other than agricultural purpose is totally banned but the point that needs to be highlighted is that thoushands of cattle which have been regularly deported to Meghalaya in the name of agriculture are not in sight but the question arises where are those huge number of cows.
