Five Coal-Laden Trucks seized by Students' Body in Digboi

Digboi: At least five trucks carrying illegal coal have been seized by Chatra Mukti Sangram of Tinsukia unit on Monday evening.

As per reports, the student’s organization later handed over the custody of the coal-laden trucks to Digboi police.

It is to be noted that a huge amount of illegal coal has been seized from the trucks as well.

The students’ body also alleged Margherita’s MLA Bhaskar Sharma is involved in the Coal Syndicate Raj which is allegedly running from Margherita.

Speaking before the media, one of the students’ members said that they have launched an operation in order to nab the coal mafias who allegedly run the Syndicate Raj from Margherita, Ledu, Jagun and Lekhapani areas.

They further claimed that the State Government has failed to arrest the culprits despite knowing the fact that there has been in a huge rise in Coal Syndicate Raj in the region. “We have informed the Government through a press conference about coal mafias and how do they operate in the region, but no action have been taken so far in this regard,” claimed the students’ body.

Also, there are reports that these coal mafias are involved in tax evasion and are involved in generating an old e-way bill to dispatch coals from the region illegally, thus, leading to huge losses in both State and Central Government's funds.

Meanwhile, Digboi Police registered a case in connection with the transportation of illegal coal from the region.
