TINSUKIA: With the detection of five more positive COVID cases on Tuesday, the number of persons infected has risen to 201 in Tinsukia district. The five persons have been identified as Dilip Raut (42), Suman Rampuria (29) of Golai, Ajit Yadav (35) and his two minor daughters - Arohi Yadav (5) and Ankita Yadav (1) of Lunpuria Bongali Gaon Panitola. Their houses were declared as containment zones.

Among the six cases detected on Monday, two cases posed serious threat. According to local residents, Manika Biswas, after arrival from Kishanganj, was home quarantined in her mother's house (Shoba Das) at Mission Para, Tinsukia which has 14 rented houses, occupants of which are vegetable and other vendors, and they also have a dairy firm. She reportedly visited several households and the house occupants continued to deliver milk to several outlets.

In another case, Abul Khair and Abul Bashar were detected positive on Sunday. They have the largest mobile outlet in TDA Market Complex in Tinsukia, besides other commercial establishments in Daily Bazar. Though they were home quarantined, they went to their shops while flouting quarantine guidelines. As several hundred people visit TDA Market Complex that houses the highest number of mobile shops under a single complex in the State, it has become a daunting task for the Health Department to undertake contact tracing other than making arrangement for testing and screening of the shop owners which was done on Wednesday.
