KOKRAJHAR: After a hiatus of a couple of weeks, the Basugaon town and Bongaigaon Refinery (BGR) in Chirang have been hit again by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the last two days, as many as five women from two separate families in Basugaon w/n-2 and BGR, Dhaligaon have been infected with COVID-19. One of the women of Basugaon was in critical condition and has been admitted to Fakaruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta.

Meanwhile, all three females including an infant had applied for home quarantine. The district administration, Chirang as well as the health department have observed the situation and asked the people to be vigilant after the news of infection of five persons including an infant in Basugaon town and BGR, Dhaligaon on Friday. Other family members of both the infected families have also been examined on Saturday. The affected families have been advised to stay at home by the health department. As a consequence, the affected families of Basugaon have also shut down their business establishment and kept away from others. The Chirang district administration as well as the health department has called upon all to take precautionary measures against the COVID-19 outbreak again in Basugaon town and BGR, Dhaligaon.
