Flash Flood Throws Life Out of Gear in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: Intermittent rains for the past couple of days left many places inundated here. The flash flood was seen causing much inconvenience to the commuters and public in general.

Places like Bagchipara and a long stretch from below the Thanacharali overbridge till Hotel Monalisa need special mention as people were seen having a harrowing time while driving or walking along the waters. The presence of deep potholes underneath the waters made life, even more, trying for the locals. Overflowing drains made the situation pitiable.

Moreover, in another act of laxity by the Dibrugarh Municipal Board, various parts of the drain running along the RKB Path were left exposed. Many slabs covering the drain were removed around a week ago for cleaning the drain but were not put back in place till the filing of this report. As a result, commuters were seen avoiding the footpath and taking the road, which led to traffic congestion in the already narrow road. Among the ones keeping to the footpath nonetheless, few were spotted narrowly escaping descending into the openings.
