Flood affects 51 villages in Goalpara district; 34 under Lakhipur revenue circle

GOALPARA: At least 51 villages, 34 from Lakhipur, 13 from Matia and 4 from Balijana revenue circles have been affected by flood in Goalpara district. The 34 villages under the Lakhipur revenue circle have been affected after the breach of the Chilarbhita embankment last week. According to the government reports, about 37,000 people have been hit by this latest flood all over the district. No reports of casualties of human lives have been confirmed. No houses were also damaged or situations to deploy SDRF or NDRF has not aroused. The district administration has distributed relief materials along with face masks and hand sanitizers in the worst hit areas.
