Flood situation improves, officials visit flood-affected areas in Sivasagar

JOYSAGAR, Sept 18: The flood situation in Sivasagar district seems to have improved since the last two days as the water level of most rivers of the district has come down.

Meanwhile, a joint team of the Sivasagar district administration visited the flood-affected areas of the district on Tuesday. Mahmora MLA Jogen Mahan and Thowra MLA Kushal Dowari also joined the team and interacted with the flood-affected villagers. The team visited Dikhowmukh, Teliadunga, Rupahimukh, Konwarpur, Betena, Panbecha, Desangmukh, Rupahi, Bhatiapara, Sukanpukhuri and Nangalamora.

Besides, relief materials as well as food items were also distributed among the flood victims. The water level of the Deroi and Desang River decreased on Tuesday while the Dikhow, Dorika and some other rivers have also shown a decreasing trend. The Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner along with Amguri MLA Pradip Hazarika visited the flood-hit areas in Amguri on Tuesday and took stock of the damages. They also distributed relief materials to the villagers.
