Every family in the village was preparing for a feast on Uruka night when some unknown persons entered the village with arms and ammunition and opened firing on four families. In the firing, 17 people, including children and women, lost their lives. Since that day, the people of Kekerikuchi village have not observed Uruka and Bhogali Bihu. The people have not forgotten the horror that unfolded that night. Only naam kirtan is held to pray for the peace of the departed souls.
