TANGLA: The officials of Dhansiri Forest Division, Udalguri in co-ordination of Mazabat Forest officials rescued a number of wild animals besides recovering dead animals. According to reports, based on specific inputs of Udalguri DFO Raju Kumar Brahma, Mazbat Forest Beat Officer, Mintu Boro and Udalguri Forest Beat Officer Binesh Daimari rescued one fishing cat, one Indian Fox and two wild cats while they were being carried to be traded in an illegal wildlife market near Puthimari market besides Mora Chandana river in Udalguri district on Saturday morning. The team also recovered one dead Indian Fox and one dead wild cat along with a burner, LPG cylinder, trap wire, knife. However the wildlife smugglers sensing trouble fled from the scene. Udalguri DFO Raju Kumar Brahma said, " We have learnt that the wildlife animals and their parts are traded in a weekly market and we had laid a trap but the smugglers escaped from the scene leaving behind the wildlife animals."
