Former AASU leader Jitu Hazarika passes away

DOOMDOOMA: Jitu Hazarika (55), a former AASU leader and current president of BJP Rajdhani Mandal breathed his last at Nemcare Hospital, Guwahati on Sunday. Born to a teacher's family of Nitya Hazarika, a former subject teacher of Hoonlal HS School and Netra Phukan Hazarika, a former teacher of Hansara Garden LP School near here, he passed his matriculation examination in 1983 from Doomdooma Hoonlal HS School and graduated from Cotton College (Now Cotton University).

Later on he did his LLB degree also. He started his business at Guwahati and settled down there permanently. Because of his association with AASU's Doomdooma Regional Committee and its Tinsukia District Committee, he actively participated in Assam movement. He is survived by his wife and one son besides host of relatives. His death has cast a pall of gloom at Doomdooma and was widely mourned by many organisations.
