Former All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) leader passes away

DOOMDOOMA: Indreswar Neog (54), former AASU leader, an active participant of Assam movement and an active member of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) since inception passed away at his Mridangpara village residence near Kakapather on Tuesday. He was ailing for some time and is survived by his old mother, wife and two sons. While studying at Dangri HS School, he took up the responsibility of taking a lead role of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Dangri Regional unit and subsequently, became actively associated with six years long Assam agitation. After formation of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) in the aftermath of signing of Assam Accord he became actively associated with it and was close associate of former AGP minister Jagadish Bhuyan. Ironically he had a troubled time during Army opertion when AGP was in power and again he had to suffer a lot at the hands of United Liberation Front of Assam (I). His death has cast a pall of gloom in Kakapather-Mridangpara area and was widely mourned by several organizations.
