Former CM Prafulla Mahanta admitted to Downtown hospital in Guwahati

Guwahati: Assam's former Chief Minister Prafulla Mahanta has been admitted to a private hospital in Guwahati late on Friday night and he is in a serious condition.

As per sources, the two-time former CM and the former Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Downtown hospital in the city.

Sources have informed that a team of doctors is monitoring his health.

Mahanta is one of the founding members of the AGP party. He also spearheaded the six-year-long Assam Agitation.

Notably, the former CM was the youngest CM of any Indian state when he donned the CM's hat at the age of 33 in 1985.

It is to be mentioned that from 1985 to 1990, Mahanta represented the Nowgong Sadar Assembly Constituency and since 1991, he has been representing the Barhampur Legislative Assembly council in Nagaon district.
