DOOMDOOMA: Kapildev Pandey, former Vice-Chairman, Doomdooma Municipal Board (DMB), passed away on Saturday night due to heart failure. He was 74 and is survived by his wife and four sons. Besides being the ward commissioner of Ward No. 3 for three consecutive terms, he was a dedicated grassroots-level worker of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). He shouldered the responsibility of the presidency of the Doomdooma Mandal BJP. He was also an active social worker and president, Doomdooma Sub-urban Traders’ Association; president, North East Hindustani Sammelan; president, Narsingh Thakurbari; president, Doomdooma Hindi Primary School; president, Bhojpuri Sammelan; and founder president, Chowdhury Bazar Hanuman Mandir.

His body was taken to the Hindustani Puja Samiti and Doomdooma Municipal Board office premises for paying the last respect. On the way to Doomdooma Smashan Ghat, many organisations, including the Doomdooma Chambers of Commerce, the Doomdooma Traders’ Association, Doomdooma Asomiya Puja Aru Natya Mandir Samiti, Bangiya Durgabari, Doomdooma Sakha Xahitya Xabha, Bhojpuri Mahila Samaj, Marwari Sammilan, Marwari Yuva Manch, Doomdooma Press Club, Doomdooma, and others from the Bhojpuri community, paid floral tributes to his mortal remains.
