Former Minister of Jagiroad Prasad Doloi’s Demise Condoled

JAGIROAD: Former minister and MLA of Jagiroad, Prasad Doloi died at his residence at Dharamtul in Morigaon on August 20. He was 94 and leaves behind his wife, a son, three daughters and a host of relatives. Doloi was elected as MLA of Jagiroad from Janata Party in 1977. In 1980, he joined the Congress and became a minister in the Keshab Gogoi ministry in 1982. In 1983 he was again elected to the Assam Assembly from his home constituency. Doloi was born in 1924 at Dharamtul and completed his graduation from Nagaon and joined as an assistant teacher at Dharamtul Central High School before venturing into politics. Doloi was associated with many government and non-government organizations of the district. The demise of the former minister was deeply mourned in the district.
