KOKRAJHAR: Former leaders of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) on Saturday slammed the former president of the student union and present chief of the UPPL, Promod Boro, calling him 'betrayer'of the Bodos for signing the BTR Accord without proper consultation with the former senior leaders.

In a statement signed by former MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary, DD Narzary and others who were the leaders of ABSU, it was stated that Promod Boro had betrayed the Bodos. They said that the BTR Accord was nothing new. The accord was made in a hurried manner by Boro while other stakeholders of the accord, like the four factions of NDFB and UBPO, were kept in the dark during the preparation of draft agreement, they said, adding that the main intention of the accord was to project Boro as the chief of the new council administration.

Bwiswmuthiary and Narzary said the sole aim of the Bodos was the separate state of Bodoland. Two accords- BAC and BTC - had been signed earlier which were the founding pattern to achieve the goal of separate state but the third accord - the BTR Accord- had blocked the way to reach the goal of statehood for the Bodos and for which Promod Boro was responsible. They reiterated that the new accord was an insult to the supreme sacrifice made by the Bodos and NDFB. They also said that the BTR Accord had destroyed the geographical contiguity of the existing BTC.
