Former Union Minister Sontosh Mohan Dev bust unveiled in Silchar DSA

SILCHAR: A bust of former Union Minister Sontosh Mohan Dev was unveiled at the premises of Silchar District Sports Association. Former Indian keeper Bhaskar Ganguly unveiled the statue on Friday at a function attended by leaders from all political parties. MP Dr Rajdeep Roy, Rajya Sabha MP Susmita Dev, daughter of late Sontosh Mohan as well as Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty graced the dias as guests. Roy and Chakraborty praised SM Dev for his contribution in making the DSA stadium a prominent playground in the state. The Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a written message paid his tribute to Dev.

Susmita Dev, who represented Silchar both in the state Assembly as well as the Lok Sabha as a Congress member and now a TMC Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal said, her father was a true sportsman and contributed immensely for the betterment of sports in Barak Valley. Sontosh Mohan Dev, who died in 2017 was a FIFA approved referee too.
