Foundation of 100 houses under PMAY (U) laid for people living below poverty line

DHUBRI: Foundation of 100 houses for people living below poverty line (BPL) in eight wards of Chapor Town Committee area of Dhubri district was laid by Bilasipara (East) legislator Ashok Kumar Singhi under Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) Urban on Sunday.

In the first phase, all the 100 houses will be constructed at the cost of Rs. 2 lakh each and completed within the stipulated time. Altogether 338 houses were sanctioned in Chapor Town Committee area and foundation of the rest of the houses will be laid soon.

Speaking in the foundation-laying function, Bilasipara (EAST) legislator Ashok Kumar Singhi informed that Rs. 1.10 lakh were given to all the beneficiaries each while rest of the amount Rs. 90,000 would be transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in two installments after reviewing the progress of the construction.

“A total amount Rs.6.76 crore was sanctioned for the construction of 338 houses under PMAY (Urban), of which in the first phase Rs. 3.71 crore has been released to the beneficiaries. This construction work will be carried out under Executive Officer of Chapor Town Committee and Chapor Circle Officer Nabojit Pathak,” Singhi further informed. Singhi said that no one coming under the BPL category would be left out.
