To commemorate the diamond jubilee of the establishment of Gargaon College, the foundation stone of a new building was laid at the college premises on Friday.

SIVASAGAR: To commemorate the diamond jubilee of the establishment of Gargaon College, the foundation stone of a new building was laid at the college premises on Friday. The foundation stone laying ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests including Biman Baruah, president of the governing body of the college, Dr Punyadhar Gogoi, former Principal of the college, Dr Surendranath Dutta, former Vice Principal of the college, Lohit Gogoi, former Head Assistant of the college and Tilak Konwar, Guardian Member of Governing Body of the college. A significant number of teaching and non-teaching staff of the college also participated in the event.

While addressing the event, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, eminent academician and Principal of Gargaon College briefed the gathering on the purpose and planning of the proposed project which he hoped shall fulfill a long-standing need of the institution.

Biman Baruah, president of governing body of the college appreciated the efforts of the Principal of the college, Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta in undertaking the project. Speaking on the occasion, former Principal of Gargaon College, Dr Punyadhar Gogoi congratulated the college fraternity for the important step forward in the infrastructural development of the college. He further recalled and shared insights of his long association with the college. Dr Rina Handique, Vice Principal of the college expressed hope and satisfaction that the new project would be an additional asset for the institution. The programme was coordinated by Dr Nilutpal Chutia, Assistant Professor of the department of Economics of Gargaon College.
