Foundation Stone of Charaideo Rajapukhuri Civil Hospital, Assam Laid by State Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma

JOYSAGAR, July 31: State Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma formally laid the foundation stone of the proposed 100-bedded Charaideo (Sonari Sadar) Rajapukhuri Civil Hospital on Monday. A formal foundation stone-laying function was arranged by the Charaideo district administration on the bank of the historic Rajapukhuri of Sonari where Sonari MLA and State Power Minister Tapan Gogoi took part as guests of honor. Charaideo Deputy Commissioner BN Phukan presided over the meeting where State Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma participated as chief guest and laid the foundation stone of the proposed hospital. Addressing the local gathering, Sarma said that the State Health Department was committed to providing quality healthcare to people. Assam is the first State in India to complete the legal process under PPP scheme and will build about nine free cancer hospitals for poor people. Besides, the State government will set up more medical colleges in the State so that the new generation of doctors can serve the rural people, he said.

Sarma in his speech also revealed that for Charaideo district there was an allocation of Rs. 53 crore for 53 different tea garden areas in the current fiscal year. With this fund, the PWD with the help of the tea garden authorities had to construct, repair and improve tea garden roads.
