LAKHIMPUR: State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of the Dongibeel-Meneha Bridge over the Dikrong River at Dongibeel under Nowboicha LAC of Lakhimpur district on Monday. The third bridge over the river with a length of 316.720 metres will be constructed with the investment of a fund amounting to Rs. 42,04,95,272 sanctioned under Asommala scheme. Being the first scheme under Asommala, the construction work of the bridge will start from the month of March and the completion of the work will benefit the people of a large area under Bihpuria to communicate with Laluk.
After the ceremonial event of laying the foundation stone of the bridge, the minister took part in a public meeting on the occasion. In his speech, he highlighted the developmental schemes implemented by the State Government. Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, Bihpuriya MLA Debananda Hazarika and dignitaries of the Lakhimpur district BJP were present in the programme.
