SILCHAR: The Aizawl-Dholai Road -- which was abandoned due to years of political apathy and neglect, has been revived. Minister for Forest & Environment and Excise & Fisheries, Parimal Shuklabaidya and Silchar MP, Dr Rajdeep Roy laid the foundation stone of NH-54 from Dholai Bazar to Loharbond on Saturday. An amount of Rs 10 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of this road under the 'Signature Project' at the initiative of Silchar legislator Dr Roy. Addressing a public meeting at the Dholai Thana Road after laying the foundation stone, Minister Shuklabaidya elaborated on the history of the Aizawl-Dholai Road. He said, "This is not just a road, it is part of the age-old tradition of Dholai.
