MANGALDAI: Synchronizing with the foundation laying of 100 police barracks centrally in a function at Jengraimukh in the Majuli district by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal under "MOITRI" (Mission of Overall Improvement of Thana for Responsive Image), Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah and Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan also ceremonially laid the foundation of three police barracks in the district on Sunday. Police barracks for three police stations in Darrang district namely Mangaldai, Dalgaon, Dhula have been included in this scheme initiated by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. Every police barrack will cost an amount of Rs. 2,62,49, 18,800 each to provide better facilities and upgrade the living standards of the police constables engaged in the police station. To mark the function, Darrang Police organized a function at Dhula Police Station complex in presence of all ranks of district Police, members of Village Defence Organization, and leading citizens.

Taking part in the programme, Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah highlighted the role of the police and appreciated the district police for their people friendly attitude with an iron fist during the lockdown period.

"This is for the first time that the State government under bold leadership of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has come up with the 'MOITRI' scheme to bring a revolutionary change not in the police infrastructure, but also to provide a comfortable and hygienic living facility to the constables serving in the police stations which surely will transform the minds of the 'Men in Khaki' in rendering their service to the people," said Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah in his speech.

Earlier in his welcome address, Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan explained the details of the 'MOITRI' scheme. Officer in Charge of Mangaldai Police Station Inspector Dino Bondhu Bhuyan, Deputy Adviser of Village Defence Organization Mukut Saikia, Armed Branch Inspector Krishna Kanta Nath also addressed the function anchored by media person Bhargab Kumar Das. The live telecast of the centrally organized function at Majuli was also arranged in the function.
