BOKO: Kamrup (rural) Superintendent of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta and 4th APBn commandant Indrani Baruah laid the foundation stones of Lower Lumpi and Upper Lumpi BOPs new building construction on Saturday.

The buildings and barricades of Lower Lumpi and Upper Lumpi are in the deplorable condition and the villagers of the Lumpi area have been demanding upgradation of the buildings of BOPs for safety. Biju Chetry, local resident of Lower Lumpi, said that finally the government had given some support to those police personnel who do their duty in the border in extreme conditions. Biju requested the government to provide some vehicles for Lower Lumpi Police outpost and for BOPs to patrol in the Lumpi area to secure the place from unwanted incidents.

4th APBN commandant Indrani Baruah said that this was a long-pending problem which would be solved very soon. Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Kailash Kartik N. said that the budget of the construction work of the BOP buildings in Lower and Upper Lumpi was around Rs 1.4 crore. He also said that a connecting road between Upper Lumpi BOP to Lumpi road would be constructed under MGNREGA scheme.

Boko PS Officer in-charge Sanjit Kumar Ray, RHAC general member Arjun Chetry and many other dignitaries are present during the day-long programme.
