BOKAJAN: In another successful operation against drug trafficking, the Karbi Anglong police recovered over 900 grams of heroin in two separate cases along the Assam-Nagaland border in East Karbi Anglong on Monday. Police have also arrested four persons and have seized a Bolero pick-up and a Scooty in connection.

As per reports, the Dillai police set up a naka check over NH-39 in the Lahorijan BOP area based on specific information about the movement of contraband drugs through the area. The team was conducting random frisking and checking of vehicles when they intercepted a Bolero pick-up bearing registration number AS 25 DC 6816 coming from Nagaland.

"On checking the vehicle, the police team found nothing but the driver looked nervous and it raised suspicion. The police team conducted a thorough check of the vehicle and recovered 33 soap boxes containing 572 grams of heroin concealed under the spare wheel of the vehicle," said Bokajan SDPO John Das. Two persons named Saddam Hussain of Chungajan in Golaghat district and Kasem Ali of Juria in Nagoan district have been arrested in connection. Further investigation is on.

In another incident, acting on a tip-off, Bokajan SDPO John Das intercepted a Scooty in the Nothang Basti area under Khatkhati PS and recovered 30 soap boxes containing 364 grams of heroin from the vehicle. Two persons named Sanjib Pradhan and Tiwa Augustine have been detained in connection. Sanjib Pradhan is a local resident of Khatkhati while Tiwa belongs to Mao in Senapati district of Manipur. The duo had procured the drugs from Manipur and was hoping to sell it to someone in Khatkhati. "We have tested both the samples in our primary drug testing kit and both have returned positive of heroin," the officer said.
