On Saturday, Assam Police rescued four girls from Baihata, Assam, who were suspected of being victims of attempted human trafficking. 

The four girls were from Paneri village in Assam's Udalguri district's Harisinga Tehsil. 

Furthermore, one of the accused, Giyas Ali (32), has been arrested in connection with the event. He has been held by police for questioning.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted about this incident. 

A case has been lodged in the Paneri police station under various provisions of the Child Labour Act. 

The Assam CM acknowledged that the Assam Police are on a quest to find the other suspects, and he also praised the Assam Police personnel for their commitment.

In another news, Three children have gone missing in Assam's Mayong district of Morigaon. The children have been missing since Friday night.

More information and details about the three children are still awaited but according to preliminary reports, the three kids have been identified as Dimpimoni Saikia, Sumi Saikia, and Nayan Saikia. All three of them are residents of Ouguri village in Mayong. A missing person case has been registered at the Mayong police station but so far, the search operation has failed to yield any result. The has been no information on the whereabouts of the three school-going children.

Interestingly, police found a note where the three children have requested their parents not to look for them and that they left as they had no other option. A police investigation is on. 

According to Assam government data, 12 children has gone missing in May, these are the number of reported cases. In 2020, as many as 142 children had gone missing. Of the 3,927 children who had gone missing, only 1,307 have been found.

On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, the Chief Minister and the Assam Police Department pledged to put an end to child labour in the state. In a tweet, the Assam Police Department warned that any type of child labour is illegal and that people should speak out against it.
