TINSUKIA: The Lions Club of Tinsukia in association with the District Blindness Control Society (DBCS) organised a free eye check-up camp for cataract patients at Durgabari Hall Tinsukia on Tuesday. More than 100 elderly persons examined their eyes of which around 70 patients have been detected with cataracts. According to Sushil Jain, president of the club, these patients will be operated upon at KK Saharia Eye Hospital in Dibrugarh on May 26 free of cost. Their lodging, lens etc will be borne jointly by the Lions Club of Tinsukia and DBSC, said Dr Amalya Gohain, the programme officer of DBSC who also called upon the patients from marginalised sections of the society to avail the facilities. The programme was assisted by Sriram Agarwal project chairman and Dindayal Jindal besides a large number of club members.
