BOKAKHAT: In view of the recent tense situation in Meghalaya, the Numaligarh unit of the North East Petroleum Mazdoor Union has suspended the movement of fuel-carrying vehicles registered in Meghalaya. Against the backdrop of the prevailing situation, the Numaligarh unit has decided to suspend the supply of fuel from Assam to Meghalaya. Tankers carrying petrol, diesel and LPG will not travel to the neighbouring state, according to the union. The suspension has raised concerns over a possible fuel shortage in Meghalaya. The decision was reportedly taken following alleged attacks on Assamese drivers and tourists in Meghalaya.
