Gang of eight chain snatchers arrested by Tezpur Police

Tezpur: With the arrest of eight persons, Tezpur Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of chain snatchers and thieves from Sonitpur, Udalguri and Nagaon districts. While talking to The Sentinel, Dr Rashmi Rekha Sarmah, DSP, Headquarter, Sonitpur, said that the eight arrested had been identified as Moidul Islam of Silbori village, Soidul Islam of Silbori village from Orang in Udalguri district, Hafej Ali, Sagar Patil and Khursed Alom from Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district, and Piyar Hussain, Sapan Sutradhar and Azaharul Islam from Dhing in Nagaon district and recovered 7 grams gold and stolen two-wheelers from their possession. Two cases 154/20 U/S 392 IPC and 77/20 U/S 392 IPC have been filed in Tezpur police station, Sarmah added.
