Ganja seized, 3 arrested in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: Based on specific input, Sonitpur police seized 9 kg ganja at Napam Pathar under Barchala OP of Dhekiajuli Police station in Sonitpur district on April 21.

Officials sources said that the contraband item was seized from a car bearing registration number AS- 12SB 7230 and three persons were apprehended in this connection. Police also seized a motorcycle bearing registration number AS14B 2649.

The arrested persons have been identified as Khwramdao Brahma (44), resident of village Anthaibari Mazbat under Mazbat PS in Udalguri district; Ansai Basumatary (36), resident of village Adarsha under Mazbat PS in Udalguri district; and Kasem Ali (40), resident of village Bhergaon under Dhekiajuli PS in Sonitpur district. The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Sushanta Biswa Sarma, Superintendent of Police and Additional SP, (Headquarters) Madhurima Das.
