Gargaon College gears up for inter-college youth festival in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR: Gargaon College, a premier institute of higher education in Upper Assam, will organize the Dibrugarh University Inter-College Youth Festival 2019-20 from February 11 to February 14.

The Dibrugarh University has entrusted the responsibility to organize this grand mega event at Gargaon College, an institute of academic excellence in the Sivasagar district. Established on September 7, 1959, the institution has successfully completed 50 glorious years and is celebrating the auspicious diamond jubilee year in 2020. Located in the heart of the Ahom kingdom, the institution amidst the historical rampart glorifies the rich culture and glory of the Ahoms and the people of the past.

To accomplish the various activities and smooth functioning of the event, a strong organizing committee has been formed with the Principal, Dr. Sabyasachi Mahanta as the president, Dr. Dilip Kumar Deka and Dr. Jitu Saikia as chief coordinators along with 22 sub-committees in various heads.

While talking to The Sentinel, Dr. Sabyasachi Mahanta, the Principal of the college said, “The Gargaon College feels honored and privileged to embark upon the task of organizing this prestigious annual mega event in the place of historical importance. This festival to be held from February 11 to February 14 will provide a platform for the young and energetic youths to showcase their talent in cultural, literary and other allied activities. This four-day grand festival includes 42 events in total, both in literary and cultural fields, including drama, mime, debating and elocution, fine arts, and other literary activity. It is expected that around 2,000 students from all the colleges affiliated to the Dibrugarh University will participate in the glorious mega event.”
