SIVASAGAR: In keeping up with its mission of providing strong support services to the students in the sphere of career advancement, Gargaon College under the aegis of IQAC and Career Counseling and Guidance Cell organized an interactive programme with distinguished IPS officers on the theme Promoting Youth Involvement in Society on Saturday.
At the beginning of the programme, Dr Dilip Kumar Deka, Coordinator of the Career Counseling and Guidance Cell laid down the objectives of the event. Eminent IPS Officers namely Dr Partha Sarathi Mahanta, DIG (Administration), Assam Police and Indrani Baruah, DIG, CID, Assam Police who graced the occasion delivered talks on the theme of the programme and interacted with the students of the college.
IPS officer Indrani Baruah in an enriching talk spoke of the rising incidence of cyber crime in recent times and the precautions to be taken to safeguard oneself from the threats of such crime. She exhorted the students to devote their time to studies and focus on charting out careers of their choice. Dr Partha Sarathi Mahanta in an intriguing deliberation spoke at length about the role of students and explicated how students should focus on studies, manage time, face the competition and develop their personalities. Citing examples from his own experiences, he offered useful suggestions and strategies regarding how students can effectively prepare for competitive examinations. The talks were followed by a question and answer session during which students of the college put forward their queries regarding career prospects in civil service and strategies of preparation for competitive examinations to the resource persons.
Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, eminent academician and Principal of the college expressed gratitude to the distinguished IPS officers for gracing the event. He also appreciated IQAC and the Career Counseling and Guidance Cell for organizing the event. The programme moderated by Devajani Bakalial, Assistant Professor of the department of Assamese was attended by a significant number of teaching and non teaching staff as well as students of the college.
