Guwahati: Gauhati University authorities have decided to slash the examination fees for all students by 20% owing to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

In a notification undersigned by the University's registrar, it was disclosed that the exams will be conducted as per UGC orders from the second week of Sept 2020 in blended mode. Notification of the same will be issued three weeks prior to the exams. The notification further stated that the final semester examinations of the Undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be held from the second week of September.

For intermediate semester Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, marks of their internal assessment and previous semester exams will be considered. For students having arrears, internals marks need to be submitted on or before 14th Aug 2020 (Both PG and UG).

Filling up of exam forms mandatory for all students. For engineering students, final exams will be online. Notification for B.ed course students' exams will be issued separately. Meanwhile, the University has announced a 20% exam fee waiver for all students.

Dr. Pratap Jyoti Handique, Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University, sent a message to the student community of the university on July 13 stating that a detailed work plan and optimization of the examination procedure for the students of the university has been underway.

"The primary objective of Gauhati University at this moment is to complete the ongoing semesters and allow the students to progress towards their academic objectives. Considering the present situation, GU has decided to carry out the examinations and other academic activities on the basis of the recent UGC Guidelines [29.04.2020], UGC Revised Guidelines [06.07.2020], and UGC Standard Operating Procedure [08.07.2020]", the notice stated.
