Gay lovers from Assam commit suicide due to families' opposition

Guwahati: In an extremely tragic incident, 2 gay lovers from Assam have reportedly committed suicide due to their families' opposition to the same-sex union.

Fed up with their lives, the lovers committed suicide together after they were unable to convince their respective families to accept them as they were.

The youths in question, Brajen Thakuria from Pathsala and Ankur from Baksa district, were reportedly in a relationship for a fairly long time.

According to reports, the duo had to spend their days in mental anguish as their families were firmly opposed to the same-sex union.

Ankur, in the suicide note left behind by the unfortunate gay lovers, has called for punishment against those who were opposed to their relationship.

It needs mention here that Ankur's mother had passed away 15 days ago and family members cited the duo's relationship as the reason for her passing away.

This left the gay lovers from Assam in an extreme state of grief and they committed suicide together, reportedly because one could not stay without the other.
