GBPC condoles demise

Bongaigaon, June 11: Greater Bongaigaon Press Club (GBPC) organized a condolence programme on Monday in the club premises. Sujit Kumar Ray, president of GBPC, said that they first condoled the demise of eminent dramatist Sukracharjya Rabha. “We also condoled the death of Assamese youths Nilotpal Das and Abhijeet Nath who were lynched to death by a mob in Karbi Anglong. We also demanded punishment for the culprits,” he said.

On the other hand, Bongaigaon Police held a meeting with the leading citizens of Bongaigaon regarding rumours which were viral on social media. Hridayjit Barman, Bongaigaon Superintendent of Police, in presence of Deputy Commissioner Babulal Sarma and DIGP Mridulananda Sarma appealed to people not to fall prey to rumours. He also said that if somebody notices anyone spreading such rumours, then they must contact the police and legal action would be taken against the person spreading rumours.
