Girls outshine boys in Assam Higher Secondary exams, 2020

The AHSEC has finally declared the 12th results after a coronavirus-induced delay and girls once again have outshined the boys

Guwahati: Once the hype and hoopla surrounding the declaration of the Assam Higher Secondary exam results, 2020, has died down, it has become evidently clear that girls have once again managed to outshine their male counterparts.

In Arts, female candidates outshone the males by a considerable margin. Among regular candidates, 85.02% makes cleared the exams, while 'only' 78.64% males could clear.

In the Commerce stream, a total of 17,713 candidates had appeared this year and a total of 15,619 candidates cleared the examination, but girls have done better this time around.

Among regular candidates, 93.85% of girls were able to secure pass marks, leaving the men, with a pass percentage of 89.55%, far behind. Similarly, female candidates appearing from institutional private and non-institutional private also fared better than their male counterparts.

Similarly, in Science also the ladies performed better than the men. Among regular candidates, while the ladies had a pass percentage of 94.33, men were seen to be lagging behind with 91.09% of marks.

It needs mention here that this year, the AHSEC conducted the exams from February 12 to March 14. The exams were conducted at 772 exam centres with 2.35 lakh students appearing in humanities, science, commerce, and vocational studies streams. In comparison, last year, around 2.2 lakh candidates had appeared for the AHSEC class 12th exams. While 1,75,175 students appeared in the Arts stream, 40,588 appeared in Science, and 18,178 appeared in the Commerce Stream. The papers were evaluated in 48 evaluation zones.
