GOALPARA: The Goalpara district administration, while following the motto 'No Voter to be left behind', has been carrying out various activities under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.

While concerted SVEEP efforts prior to the Lok Sabha election fructified with a relatively higher voting percentage of 89.3 per cent, in this assembly election, the focus has been both on bridging this gap of 10.7 per cent and on targeted SVEEP for communities and areas that have been reticent to vote.

On day three of the 'One Week of Targetted SVEEP', the district administration focussed on the LGBTQ community voters. The third gender voters of the area were delighted to receive invites from the Deputy Commissioner to a SVEEP meet. The meet was followed by their enthusiastic performances on the Goalpariya Lok Geet SVEEP song designed by the Goalpara district administration exhorting voters to cast their votes on April 6.

The event culminated in a Rainbow Pride parade, wherein the LGBTQ community members carried SVEEP banners, rainbow floats and umbrellas with the poll date and SVEEP messages inscribed on them. This event carried forward the SVEEP buzz generated by the unique and never seen before SVEEP concepts executed by the district administration of Goalpara.

District Election Officer Varnali Deka said, "We are all different, we are unique, but we are one. Every vote counts. This election we are reaching out right up to the last mile to ensure that all voters come out and cast their valuable vote."

Meanwhile, final touches to the poll preparedness are being given in a phased manner in the different centres of the town. Huge pandals are being constructed and strong rooms are being set up in Goalpara College field.
