GOALPARA: The Goalpara district administration launched on Saturday an innovative programme named 'Samarth Goalpara' under 'Goalpara Cares' to make people capable of self-defense.
The programme was launched from the conference hall of the DC office by Varnali Deka, Deputy Commissioner of Goalpara, in presence of senior officials of the district administration and all heads of the line department.
"Physical fitness and self-defense are two very important aspects for the development of personality. In order to promote this, we have launched this programme on self-defense and taekwondo," said Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka, under whose supervision the programme was launched.
The programme will include online classes on self-defense and taekwondo. The video lessons on taekwondo will be prepared by the local youths of the district. The videos will be uploaded on the district YouTube channel regularly and will be available for the general public. "Through this programme, the district administration will also look to promote Government of India's 'Fit India' campaign," the DC added.
The online videos are aimed to help the local public get access to taekwondo lessons from their homes. The district administration has also appealed to parents and the general public as well to follow the videos and help promote this noble initiative.
