Golaghat: The activists of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS), Golaghat district committee burnt the effigy of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in Golaghat town on Sunday to protest against sky-rocketing prices of petrol and diesel.

They raised various slogans against the Union government as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The president and secretary of CMSS Golaghat district committee, Satyabrata Saikia and Rupam Gogoi slammed the Narendra Modi-led BJP government and said that the Modi government had invested public money in contesting the recently concluded parliamentary election and now the government was trying to recover money by hiking the prices of petrol and diesel.

They said that the price hike of petrol, diesel and LPG resulted in a hike in prices of essential commodities. The organization threatened that if the Modi-led Union Government did not take any fruitful initiative to control the price hike of petrol, diesel and LPG soon, Golaghat CMSS would carry out a massive protest against the government.
