Golaghat DC Dr P Uday Praveen holds meeting with tea garden management authorities

GOLAGHAT: The Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Dr P Uday Praveen, chaired a meeting on Thursday at the conference hall of the DC office with the tea garden management authorities and representatives of various tea groups and associations of tea garden workers.

The meeting discussed about disbursement of bonus to the tea garden workers for the upcoming Durga Puja. The Deputy Commissioner instructed all the tea garden management authorities to disburse the bonus before September 16 so that the workers can get two holidays for shopping ahead of Durga Puja. "If any tea garden management authority cannot manage to disburse the bonus before September16, they have to show valid reason before the district administration and the matter will be taken care of so that before September 20 all workers get their bonus without any delay," he said.

According to the Bonus Act, 1965 the minimum bonus for tea garden workers is 8.33 per cent and the maximum bonus is 20 per cent.

The meeting was attended by Orpah Baglary, DDC, Tilottama Deori, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Anjan Pandit, Additional SP, managers of tea gardens, representatives from various tea groups like ABITA, NETA, ATPA, TAI and Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha and other concerned.
