GOLAGHAT: In view of the 72nd Republic Day, the Golaghat district administration has tighten security measures to avoid any untoward incident.

A day-long programme has been included to celebrate the Republic Day which will be started by launching ProbhatPheri at 5:30 am. The national flag will be hoisted in government and non-governmental offices at 7:30 am and floral tributes will be paid on the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, and several martyrs including KushalKonwar, at 8:45 am. Later, the national flag would be hoisted by special guest at GolaghatSamnnaykhetra. On the occasion, a cultural programme and felicitation programme will be observed. After that, free eye operations will be done at KushalKonwar Civil hospital in collaboration with National Blindness Control Samiti and Pithani Trade and Agency. The Golaghat Lions Club will distribute fruits to patients of KushalKonwar Civil Hospital, prisoners of Golaghat district jail and clothes to newborn babies of K.K. civil hospital.

A T-20 cricket match will be played between Deputy Commissioner Golaghat – XI and Bar Association XI. In the evening, the celebration programme will be concluded by lightening the lamp on government offices, educational institutions, and other public places.
