GOLAGHAT: Altogether four nurses and a worker of Golaghat Nursing Home tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday. As per information, the district administration took 92 swab samples from doctors, nurses and patients of Golaghat Nursing Home and on Thursday. Four nurses and a worker tested positive.

Notably, two laboratory technicians of Golaghat Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital, Rituraj Bora and Pranjal Bora, tested COVID-19 positive and they were kept under quarantine in a hotel of Golaghat. But they allegedly went to Golaghat Nursing Home and worked in the laboratory of the nursing home by violating COVID-19 protocol. In this way, the staff and patients of the nursing home came in contact with two COVID-19 positive persons and consequently, four nurses and a worker tested positive for the dreaded virus.

Significantly, the results of most of the swab samples collected from the nursing home are yet to come and it is feared that more positive cases will be detected in the nursing home. Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Bibhash Chandra Modi has already ordered an inquiry into the matter and the district administration has declared Golaghat Nursing Home as restricted zone.
