GOLAGHAT: On the basis of specific information, Golaghat police led by Officer in-charge Dipak Bora arrested dreaded drug mafia Amzad Khan from his residence at Santipur of Golaghat town on Monday.

Talking to the media, OC Dipak Bora said that Amzad Khan had been smuggling drugs all over India since several years. Bora further said that in the year 2019 on October 15, West Bengal Police seized an Innova vehicle bearing no. AS05AH0947 with huge cache of drugs worth Rs 2 crore at Jalpaiguri of West Bengal. The West Bengal police arrested drug peddlers Rukumuddin Ahmed of Dergaon, Rosid Ali of Merapani in Golaghat district and Mahhamad Samim of Dimapur. In the meantime, dreaded drug mafia Amzad Khan managed to escaped from the spot.

West Bengal police came to Golaghat several times to arrest Amzad Khan but they unable to trace him. There are several cases in various police stations of Golaghat registered against him for hijacking, drug smuggling and illegal liquor transporting. The Golaghat police are interrogating him for further information.
