Golaghat Police arrests SMSS general secretary Bidyut Saikia
GOLAGHAT: The Golaghat Police arrested Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) central committee general secretary Bidyut Saikia on Friday night from Furkating of Golaghat district.
On Saturday he was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Golaghat District Court. Supporters and activists of SMSS gathered in the court premises and raised slogans against the BJP government and demanded his release.
Altogether 9 cases against the SMSS general secretary Bidyut Saikia have been registered by the police. Among these, two are non-bailable cases. Bidyut Saikia told media persons that the government feared the anti-CAA agitation and was trying to weaken the voice of SMSS and KMSS leaders by forcibly arresting them.
