GOLAGHAT: The Golaghat Regional Students' Union has opposed the decision for coal mining in Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary.

On Saturday, AASU activists expressed their concern over the move for coal mining in Dehing Patkai. The activists staged protest near the Golaghat AASU office campus and displayed placards, maintaining social distancing, for saving Dehing Patkai rainforest. The president and secretary of the organization, Angsuman Baruah and Biswajit Gogoi criticized the decision of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) to allow coal mining in new areas of the Dehing Patkai rainforest in Assam.
