'Golden Girl' Hima Das Felicitated by CM Sarbananda Sonowal; Watch Video

The ‘Golden Girl’ Hima Das reached her homeland on Friday and the homecoming of the Assam girl brought smiles into the faces of many. Paving her path to fame and name at an age of just 18 years, Hima has suddenly become an idol for the people in her state and country. Welcoming the indomitable sprinter, the Assam Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal later in the day awarded her with a 1.6 crore cheque for her stupendous performance at the recently concluded 18^th Asian games. The athlete was facilitated at a crowded felicitation event held at Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati.

Hima clinched one Gold and two Silver medals in the recently concluded Asian Games. Before this, she created a nationwide buzz by becoming the first Indian athlete to win Gold at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships in Athletics which has held in Finland.

After the felicitation ceremony, the CM says that Hima has been a symbol of success for the young generation of our nation. Her achievement has encouraged all to believe in their dreams. He also conveyed that Hima has made her fans all throughout the nation which ranges from Kanya Kumari to Kashmir, Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh. Everyone is delighted to see her perform so well and hence, has poured in their best wishes to the Asian Games Gold and Silver medalist.
