Dibrugarh: The recently-declared goof-up in the APSC Prelims Examination, 2018 has stirred quite a row among many aspirants here. Other than drawing sharp reactions, the development seems to have cast doubts afresh on the credibility of APSC. An aspirant, who had opted for History as his optional subject, spoke to The Sentinel on condition of anonymity and remarked, “They claim they choose domain experts for cutting the question papers. That seems highly doubtful! It is a well-known historical fact that the Guptas had matrimonial ties with both the Lichchhavis and Vakatakas. While Chandragupta I married a Lichchhavi princess named Kumaradevi, years later, Chandragupta Vikramaditya II gave his daughter named Prabhavatigupta in marriage to a Vakataka king. Contrary to this well-established fact, the examiners asked us to choose the name of only one kingdom as the right answer despite having given two correct answers among the options.”
Another aspirant, on a similar condition, shared her anxiety, “I quit my job to dedicate myself completely to the State Civil Services Examination. I was attracted to it as the government claimed to have made APSC free of all the anomalies and blemishes it had developed over the years. However, in light of the recent events, I am having second thoughts about the call I took. Is it so hard to put forth correct questions and find the right answers?”
