GUWAHATI: As per the latest developments within the Assam Administration, the state government has brought into effect a reshuffle in the portfolios.

According to the recent government notification, additional chief secretary Paban Kumar Borthakur has been given charge of the chairman of the Assam Administrative Tribunal.

The same government directive further stated that IAS Amitabh Rajkhowa henceforth will be in the charge of the Labour Commissioner. Also, Nira Gogoi Sonowal, another high-ranking IAS officer, has been transferred and directed to take over the charge as the Regional Commissioner of the Barak Valley.

It may be mentioned that Sonowal has also been given the additional charge of the Commissioner of the Hill districts development department.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, retired IAS officer VS Bhaskar has been newly appointed as the Resident Representative of the Assam Bhawan at Hyderabad.

These changes have been immediately placed into effect and the directive mentioned that these changes in the portfolios and additional charges gives to the IAS officers would facilitate the smooth functioning of the administrative bodies.

The Assam Government in the past few months have made changes from time to time in certain departments, including the Police Department, the forest department and other important branches of its administrative machineries. 

Earlier in July 27, Ramandeep Kaur, Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi, is posted as Superintendent of Police in Cachar. Gaurav Upadhyay, Superintendent of Police Chirang has been posted as Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi. Pranjit Borah, DCP (traffic) has been posted as Superintendent of Police, Chirang. This was stated a press release.

Also, according to another notification on July 21, the Assam Government transferred a number of IFS and AFS officers from their existing postings to different portfolios and locations. As per the official notification, all the officers has been directed to hand overcharges to their next junior officers immediately and move to assume their new place of posting before 23/07/2021.
