Government making concerted efforts for development of education sector: Chandra Mohan Patowary

MANGALDAI: Minister of Environment and Forest-cum-Guardian Minister of Darrang, Chandra Mohan Patowary on Wednesday attended the Anundoram Borooah Award programme held at District Library auditorium at Mangaldai. A total of 835 students of Darrang district received the amount of Rs. 16,000 each. Out of 835, 274 students secured distinction while 561 secured star marks.

Addressing the function, Patowary informed that a model school would be set up in each of 126 assembly constituencies in the State while 97 model colleges had already been set up till date. He also said that 51,655 TET qualified teachers had been appointed in the State between 2011-22. The minister informed that nine girls' colleges were being constructed in the State and foundation of one of the girls' college in Darrang would be laid on September 17 by the Chief Minister. The programme marked the screening of Chief Minister Sarma's speech at the centrally arranged Anundoram Borooah Award programme held at Sankardev Kalakshetra Auditorium, Guwahati.

Legislators Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi of Sipajhar, Basanta Das of Mangaldai, Majibur Rahman of Dalgaon, former legislator Gurujyoti Das, Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Pranab Kumar Sarmah and other dignitaries were also present in the programme.
